USE HEART FOR EVERY HEART
A beating heart is the only sign of life and beating the cardiovascular disease is something that matters to every beating heart. The World Heart Day, celebrated on 29th of September every year, is an opportunity to raise awareness about many such cardiovascular illnesses and educate the masses on how to handle the potential risks associated with these diseases. In other words, the goal of World Heart Day is to draw attention to the behaviour that really can deter individuals from becoming predisposed to CVDs and also help in cultivating the heart healthy lifestyle habits that has the potential to prevent 80% of untimely deaths occurring from strokes and heart attacks.
The
theme for this year’s world heart day is “Use Heart for Every Heart”, wherein
the word ‘Use Heart’ means to think differently, make right decisions, act with
courage, help others and more importantly engage with this cause of the World
Heart Day that has the potential to unite
all of us as people. Similarly, the
words ‘For Every Heart’ in the theme involves the use of “FOR” and swings the
focus from the actions themselves to the beneficiaries of the actions, allowing
for wider application of the campaign while also making it more personal. The
World Heart Day thus provides an opportunity for everyone to stop and consider
how best to use heart for humanity, for nature, and for yourself. The theme for
this year’s world heart day is thus based on three pillars with three key
beneficiaries. By getting involved with global events such as World Heart Day
as well as local activities, we are empowered to spread awareness and help make
a difference in the lives of all humankind, thereby using heart for humanity.
By taking immediate actions like walking or cycling instead of travelling by
car, or longer-term efforts such as supporting clean air legislation, each of
us can contribute to a healthier planet in our own way and use our heart for
nature. By educating the masses on how to handle various risk factors like
unbalanced diet, smoking, lack of physical activity and bad habits induced by
stress, we can maximise our individual heart health and use heart for our self.
So, on this World Heart Day, let us all work together and make a difference for humanity, for nature and for you by making it possible that the messages reach to as many individuals as possible to help achieve cardiovascular health for every heart.
